2026-2027 Registration Policies
Notice to All Members of Operating Engineers Local 139: The Operating Engineers Local 139 Training Center is committed to providing members and apprentices with access to training opportunities throughout the training season. Registration procedures and eligibility requirements vary based on the type of training and, for apprentices, total hours earned and sign-in date.
Registration
- Registration for Health and Safety classes and refresher courses will be available online or by calling the Training Center starting on Monday, October 5, 2026
- Registration for equipment-based classes for NON-APPRENTICE members will be limited to two seats and available by calling the Training Center starting on Monday, October 5, 2026. Online registration will not be available for equipment-based classes.
- Members may also register by completing the registration form located on pages 21–22 of the training catalog. Completed forms may be returned to the Training Center office by mail, fax or email.
Alternate Position Registration (for Elective Classes)
- Any NON-APPRENTICE member may hold only two alternate positions at a time.
- Once a class has commenced, you may obtain another alternate position.
- Being placed on the alternate list does not guarantee a seat in the class.
- If a seat becomes available, the Training Center will offer the seat to the first eligible alternate on the list, subject to all applicable eligibility requirements.
- Have completed the first-year classes:
- Basic Equipment
- Basic Maintenance
- Construction Regulations
- Have more than 1,500 total hours
- Alternate seats will ADD to maximum allowable scheduled related instruction hours
Confirmation of Attendance
- Members and apprentices who are registered for a class are required to respond to a phone call or email from the Training Center to confirm their availability and intention to attend.
- The required confirmation must be received no later than 4:00 PM on Wednesday prior to the scheduled class.
Failure to Confirm
- If the Training Center does not receive a response by 4:00 PM on Wednesday prior to the class, the individual’s seat will be considered forfeited.
- The forfeited seat may then be offered to the first eligible alternate on the alternate list.
- Members and apprentices are responsible for maintaining current contact information with the Training Center and for responding promptly to Training Center communications.
Registration Acknowledgment
- Once a member or apprentice has been accepted into a class, the individual will be required to sign an Acknowledgment of Registration Policies form.
- Members and apprentices are responsible for reviewing their eligibility before registering and for following all Training Center registration procedures. The Training Center may establish reasonable administrative procedures necessary to manage enrollment, alternate lists, course capacity, attendance confirmation, and related instruction requirements.
Apprentices Signed-In Prior to January 1, 2026
Apprentice registration is based on the apprentice’s sign-in date, total hours earned, and maximum allowable related instruction. October 5, 2026 — 4,500 Hours or More Registration will open on Monday, October 5, 2026, for apprentices who:- Have 4,500 or more total hours
- May register for up to 400 total hours of related instruction
- Have 3,000–4,499 total hours
- May register for up to 400 total hours of related instruction
- Have 1,500–2,999 total hours
- May register for up to 320 total hours of related instruction
Alternate seats will ADD to maximum allowable scheduled related instruction hours
Apprentices Signed-In After January 1, 2026, Through Present
October 26, 2026 — 3,000 Hours or More Registration will open Monday, October 26, 2026, for up to 320 total hours of related instruction, provided the required classes have been completed:- Basic Equipment

- Construction Regulations
- Basic Grade
- Hazmat
- One elective class will be optional
